Hi from Beth!
Thanks for popping by! I thought I’d add in a little hello from me and what this whole thing is about!
I work as a dance artist, creative movement facilitator and arts worker based in Newcastle, UK and working across the beloved North East region.
I started dancing later than most, but fell in love very fast with the idea of living a life full of grooving and getting others into the groove. I trained at Dance City, Newcastle where I left with a First Class Honours degree and for the first time, left the North East to gain a Masters from the University of Chichester and tour internationally with postgraduate dance company, MAPdance. Here, I completed a module in Dance Philosophy led by Dr. Ann Nugent, which was a fundamental turning point for me and without a doubt, indirectly has shaped the trajectory of my career.
Though it isn’t an easy career choice, I’ve had a lovely time in the world of dance! I’ve been fortunate to be able to work in a variety of performance, education and creative settings. Since returning to my home, the North East, I felt a whole new purpose. I am committed to providing work and collaborative opportunities in the region for local creatives, alongside nurturing braver, soulful, open and inclusive spaces for experimentation and creative expression. Beth Veitch Dance became a home and a playground to put all of these values into practice and continues to move forward with these at the forefront of all activity.
I remain inspired by some of the creative voices that have opened doors for me throughout my journey, notably Anthony Missen, Abi Mortimer, Didy Veldman, Dr. Ann Nugent, Julie Campbell, Lynda Clough, Anthony Lo-Giudice, Natasha Britten, Gary Clarke and Gavin Coward.
I will leave with this quote by Bertrand Russell that I frequently return to;
“It is not the finished utopia that we ought to desire, but a World where imagination and hope are alive and active.”
