Sophie Halford
She/They
Producer at Beth Veitch Dance
From the North East UK, Sophie Halford is an early-career producer who works across dance + live arts. From initially training and performing as a dancer, Sophie developed a passion for supporting creative processes and making things happen. In 2020, they were awarded support towards their professional development and producing practice by Dance City Newcastle, Northern Stage + BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Sophie has attended a range of trainings including Stage One and the Independent Theatre Council and currently freelances across a variety of roles in Producing and Arts Management. Sophie’s work is rooted in the cultural scene of the North East but also extends across regions and recent roles/projects include: Festival of Thrift, Hadrian’s Wall 1900 Festival and Moving Art Management alongside a developing portfolio of independent projects. As a Producer, Sophie’s particular interests include the role(s) of communication within performance, taking dance into non-traditional spaces + the importance of early-career artist support.
Sophie first collaborated with Beth Veitch Dance on the Waiting On It short films (2021) and is delighted to be supporting this next phase of Beth’s work with a brilliant team!
